Hello Ron,

An incorrectly placed KVK2X but I think it is still OK. Probably an officer's bar with the silver crossed swords representing a Bavarian MVO4X. Of course the silver crossed swords could also represent a Bavarian MVK2X, in which case the bar would be to an NCO. However, I would think that an NCO would have a Bavarian military long service medal on the bar, especially since there is also a Prince Regent Luitpold Medal on the bar. Then again, maybe this officer/NCO pulled off his long service medal and substituted the KVK2X after it was awarded during WW2. It seems to me like a logical senario and I also notice that one of the tabs is broken off the mounting plate for the KVK ribbon.

The ribbon bar is an original one.

Is there any trace of black enamel ever being on the swastika on the faithful service device? There are a few varients of these devices.

Tom's theory could be correct regarding the misplaced KVK2....it doesn't look like it was moved just yesterday. All ribbons have the same wear so the KVK has been on this bar for many years. In my opinion it would be very hard to determine what sort of person wore this bar (Officer vs NCO) unless a photo was available of the bar in wear.
