        Romanian anti-communism award

The medal that I initially posted in this thread weighs .7 ounce (20 grams). I used a postal scale to get this weight. In hand, it has a very heavy feel to it.
In my opinion, it has extremely nice details and appearance.

Thanks again for the opinions and help,
        Randy

Gordon did a lot-if almost all of the decent research-on the LDo and makers' marks assigned by the OrdensChancellory etc. . He cleared up a LOT of misconceptions-including some things that were muddied by Kleitman ----and others who were floundering in the 1960s and 1970s.
For more information on Crusade medals-look in the archives. There some fantastic threads therein, esp. ones from @ 2001/2002.

Oh- and DMV- My guess is that your medal is a superbly made 1957 version.

              Hi McCulloh,

My guess is that your medal is a superbly made 1957 version.
              1957 versions are German decorations.

How could there be a foreign 1957 version?

With the stamp L/58 it should be an Austrian (Souval) copy.

Hmmmmm...splitting hairs a bit close there aren't we?
Still, as a lawyer, I commend your close reading of the text.
To whit thereunto-......"1957 version"= "post war version".
                Klar?

                  Hi McCulloh,

where do you see here splitting hairs?

"1957 version"= "post war version". Klar?
                  "post war version" = "1957 version" ???

                  Not "Klar", just the contrary.

These are pictures of the 1957 versions:

                    =sigh=
If it was made post war for ostensive use by vets-then its a 1957 version in my mind.
As I said Souval we know made them-and Kleitman may have also- as they were for sale in the Frontsoldat ads from 1958 ("Neue Typ").

Please, have a look on the document I presented with my link.

1957 versions are German decorations, recognizable in a different design to the original German awards.

Foreign decorations and German decorations without a change of the design can never be 1957 versions.
