    Medal Bar on E-Stand

    </O
This medal bar is currently for sale on E-stand and I have doubts about it. Specifically, it appears some if not all of these awards came from other sources and were added together to make a medal bar, albeit a crappy one at that.

    Anyone else have similar concerns?<O</O

    Thanks<O</O

    Hi Mark,

Can you explain what you mean by the medals coming from other sources?

I have had a good look at this medal bar and see the following:

-Medals appear to be original and with similar age (though EK2s are not my strong suit)
    -Medals are in correct order
    -Original medal bracket
    -Original ribbons
-Ribbons all have the same rosette style ribbon and not vaious styles

I will note that the medal bracket is a tab-back one and easy to mess with, but that does not mean it has of course.

Over-all the construction of this bar looks good, no immediate red flags jump out at me.

    Kind regards
    Pierce

Since you brought it up, I too share your concerns. Though I have a few medal bars I do not consider myself as well versed as others who do collect these. The non-cloth backed bars have always put me off because they seem so easy to play with if one wants. This one does look as though it has been messed with. I also do not like the fact that the one ribbon sits far below the other two. I like to see them equal. It could very well be good but it is not one I would want in my collection.

Whereas I agree that this type of set up is probably the easiest for someone to assemble their own bar, but what leads you to believe this is the case here? What other sources do you believe they came from?
        Regards,
        Chris

Always interested in buying Ribbon Bars or anything Ribbon Bar related!!

Looks like fresh tool marks around the metal tabs IMO.

If this medal bar was originally constructed during the period, do you honestly believe the maker would mount the EK2 and WW directly over the 4 Year Service Medal? Almost drowning the service medal out? And do you really think the owner would be proud to wear it?<O</O
            <O</O
What about the folds on this bar? Are they indicative of a period made medal bar? I don’t think so.<O</O
            <O</O
Take a look at medal bars that were constructed during the period and you’ll see my points.<O</O

IMO all medal are original, but i think it comes in pieces and then mounted by unprofessional person, just to raise it value..

I too believe the medals are original. The bar's construction is the concern.

I agree with Mark - when I first saw the bar, I assumed it had been put together (none too well) based on the LS ribbon being swallowed up by the other two. Notice also that the LS ribbon is actually furled a lot wider than the other two - I am pretty sure it came off a single mount originally.
