hello, i wouldnt normally post of help for common awards but this is something that you dont see everyday and i need help with it. the awards look original but the one im most interested in is the luftschutz cross. I looked at an original but i would like to see this one up close with an original before i made a judgment. any help would be appreaciated.

This bar is very crudely made and stands no chance of being original, in my opinion.
The ribbons for the KVK, Hindenburg Cross, and Austrian Franz-Josef Cross look like they are probably original surplus stock, but the ribbons for the Friedrich-August Cross, Luftschutz Decoration, and Social Welfare Medal are modern reproductions, in my opinion. I'm afraid that most of the medals are bad too, especially that Luftschutz Decoration First Class. Even the lowly KVK2X looks like a fake to me. It dosen't look like bronze and it dosen't look like zinc either. The absence of rosettes with this type of ribbon wrap is a bad sign to. Both the pin and catch on the back of the bar are very crude and I have a feeling that they are glued to a the backplate with epoxy. The bar shows no signs of natural aging: It only shows signs of deliberate soiling in attempt to make the ribbons look old.

Just the presence of the Luftschutz 1st class is cause for suspicion. The ribbons have that ' aged ' look that is commonly done...almost over done to look well worn. Lord knows I have bought things like this in the past ...
...until I learnt a little more about bars.
Also as mentioned...the bar and catch do not look right either.

Luftschutz is a dud for sure. No original had a suspension ring like that.
I wonder if there is a test out there of engine oil or tea stains??Comment
