Long Service Awards -- When were they established?

A friend has informed me the Wehrmacht long service medals (ribbons and devices) were not established until 1936.

    Can someone confirm?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

As far as I am aware this is true. They were establised 16th March 1936.
The oakleaves denoting 40 years service were established sometime in 1939.

    Kind regards
    Pierce

Important to know when one is trying to figure out what ribbon bars would be present on a uniform as of a certain date.....
