    Eastern Awards and KVK Bar

I am going to venture a guess and say that the white stripes on the second award ribbon probably should not glow when exposed to UV light? Is that correct or do some period ribbons react like some types of original insignia, panzer boards for example? Any thoughts on the Awards themselves and their being post War?.

Original period Ost Volk ribbons do NOT glow under blacklite....the entire medal bar is a reproduction I'm afraid....

From the look of them....I believe all three (the 2 Ost Volk and the KVK) are all modern copies....hard to be 100% sure but the metal looks all wrong....

I compared the KVK wreath to my other ones and I see it too now. Sad, it would have been a great bar for a ROA officers/NCO non-combatant tunic etc.

            Thanks-

Well the ribbons are probably repo and the hinge bar on the back is a dead giveaway...the flattened end on the side opposite the catch is never war period...

The medals could be real but if the bar and ribbons are fake, why trust the medals?

              Cheers,
              Glen

                Hi,

Based on these pictures I would say the medals and the medal bar are reproduction. The materials the Eastern Peoples awards are made from, as well as the KVK, do not appear to be either brass, tombak or zinc. As for the medal bar construction numerous posts/threads have been written about the large number of reproduction medal bars which feature this type of construction (flat bottom with no drapes).
