50 year service medal, opinions pls

Ron, superb picture. Yours was sure taken rignt behind column where soldiers sit. I´m wondering how long took to clean up that medal "mess".

50 year rare?

I have been to a bunch of shows in the past month and have showed off my medal to a bunch of collectors of this stuff. Some have more years in than I. I have been pointing out the Dienst v. Arbiet thing over the 50 year medal and just amazed everyone. It seems that nobody noticed the difference before. Strange? Doug

Yes a bit strange but if you dont collect civil awards you probably have not spent any time studying the details.

I have seen a 'fake' 50 year with 'Dienst' on it.

When I pointed it out to the dealer the next time I saw it was a 'Rare variant??'

I seem to remember a pic of a similar one here on WAF someplace.
