    Silver Mother Cross in Box

I'm sceptical about cross, but undecided about box? Anyone?

    Hello,

I think that the box is fine and it should be for a gold Mother Cross as the silver and bronze crosses were issued in paper packets. In my opinion, that Mother Cross and ribbon are fake. The overall quality of the cross is lacking and the base metal does not look correct. The overall shape of the piece looks wrong too. The enamel work also looks of inferior quality. Lastly, the Hitler facsimile and institution date on the reverse look off. Definitely not one I would care to own.

    Best regards,
    Tom

I would have to agree...the inscription is not crisp but more rounded in appearance which I do not think it should be. Also the enamel work around the swastika is sloppy...IMO

      Cheers,

I agree also. Enamels of the cross and failures in casting indicate it's not real. I wonder why, this is not so expensive cross anyway but nowadays copying cheaper crosses might get more comomn since they are not so widely suspicious and the "damage done" is not so awful to collector if getting on of those. But when manufactured in greater amounts it's very profitable for the maker...

Box looks ok to me, though, but the cross itself I don't like at all. Sorry.

There are boxes for the sliver mother's crosses as well but they're hard to come by.

Yes, I agree this box was for a gold award. I also bought a silver version years ago that was advertised with the case, but once in hand, the embossed details were gold. Just another way to market these I guess.

I don't like this cross either and have seen fakes with better details.
