See "German Military Cuffbands 1784 - present",page 67 & 68
" In addition to the official "Afrikakorps" cuffband, an unofficial version was produced and worn by both Army and Luftwaffe personnel. Little is known about this cuffband other than period photos show i being worn. It consist of silver-grey, machine-embroidered "Afrikakorps" text in block lettering, on black cotton cloth. A standard style exists as does one with Russia-braid or flat aluminium braid for NCO or officers.

Or my imagination ? it looks like a photoshop addition, it looks "new" compared to the restof the uniform the shadow where he is resting his arm looks funny & the fold in the middle after Afrika ...or I could just be talking crap

Thanks for the comments and above all thanks for opening my eyes. As the seldom cuffband caught my attention, I had not looked at the picture under this angle.
As a coincidence, the seller happens to be someone about whom a lot has already been said on the forum...
