    Interesting Brooch

Probably nothing more than a simple, custom piece of jewelry, but just noticed this piece this morning, and found it interesting.

With the swastica surmounted by a crescent moon, it reminded me of a Turkish influence. The same crescent moon is found on the Galllipoli star medal, as you guys know.

Again, probably nothing more than a curiosity, and certainly not anything official, but thought I would throw it up here to see if you guys have seen anything like this before.

    Best regards,

    Jason

Looks a bit like the ancient egyptian moon-barke (ship)

Not a National Socialist swas IMO

Very nice piece of turn of last century jewelry. A very popular piece for good luck, by not NS related.

Interesting replies, all of you. Thanks!

Appreciate you showing that piece too, Kondor. I think we sometimes forget that the symbol of the swastica has historical longevity, and we too often associate it exclusively with National Socialism and WWII.

          Great point.

          Best regards,

          Jason

This pin may be gold. Why it has a serial number I am mystified about, but i would keep it if i were you...may turn out to be important some day down the road. I like it , and the seed pearls ill bet are also original. tough them against a tooth, and they should feel gritty...just dont scrape them against your tooth...just touch them against your tooth. You have a Good eye JasonA. Keep hunting , its just a numbers game till you find something exceptional....but i think this is way cool.

Lovely Art-deco piece quite collectible in some circles as this style was only popular for a short period in the mid 20s. The
Egypt connection is spot on very popular after the 1922 Tuk discovery.

Don't know the maker mark but I am sure it can be researched. I would start in the States

I had originally started this thread with the website in plain view. Any one of you could have ordered it if you so desired. It's still available, I see, on Kai's site. I appreciate the consideration had I been interested in ordering this. That said, it is more of a curiosity item for me as it is outside of my focus. So I would encourage anybody here to secure it if it was up your alley!

In any event, great feedback from everybody. Thanks again for throwing in your two cents.

Juoneen - I appreciate very much the kind words.

                Best regards,

                Jason
