German Blue Division Medal

Ribbon is 100% fake.

The medal is authentic, being a piece of zinc is normal to have lost all gold-plated.

Try cleaning up the medal before the of zinc pest finish with it.

You should confirm measures:

36.8 mm high (including ring)
32.3 mm wide.

The band is fake, but the modern manufacturing.
Today find German-made original band of this medal is more difficult than his own medal itself.

a band compración this medal:

1 the German-made war period.
2 The Spanish-made post-war.
3 The modern clothing.



As you can see, the differences are in color and width of the yellow band and a black edge, but until it is in your hand is very difficult if not disntiguir with a comparison like this,
so it is when you see a sale you risk that is not 100% original until you receive it at home.

Was this type of medal manufactured by S&L?????

I thought that only the "1" Deschler manufacture this medal.

Are there this type medal with MM 4 in the ring???

It´s a common mistake. Since Prof. Klietmann´s first works were published in the 50´s and 60´s it´s well known that there are three different geman maker of this medal, but just the Deschlers are MM on the ring. The other makers were in the shadows until these days. In my book titled "Militaria of the Blue Division" is the first place where you can find the name of the other makers, and S&L is one of them.
