Very nice. Not often do you see the EK2 with a KVK without swords. Are these medals sewn down or on hooks?

I do not have the bar in hand.

It appears that they are sewn.

What are the chances of this being a Kreigsmarine because of the black backing?

Hi,

The color of the backing material on the reverse does not guarantee that the bar was for any particular branch of service. It, at best, is an indication and should be used in conjunction with the awards on the bar to determine branch of service. In this case, given the non specific service type medals, is impossible to make such a determination.
