SA sports badge up for discussion

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get an opinion on the following. The seller had the following to say about it. "I will send via email, they won't be super detailed since I don't have a high end camera. These items were acquired when I was a teen and I was adding items to a collection of militaria that were actually bring homes by my Dad and Uncle. The 2 German items were from a noted local collector, Donald Rabin, of Rochester (long since deceased). They have been in my closet since the mid 1960's.

To be honest, I have never even heard of a repro SA Badge, since there are many originals out there. The Type 3 is the most common, since it was issued not only to the SA but the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS troops as well, although the Silver is less easily found." He would like $100

From those pics it looks original. $100 is an OK price.

The overall appearance seems ok to me, nothing stunning. I've honestly seen better here on the forum in past threads. What are some of the more desirable types of SA sb's,going prices,etc? I think they come in silver, bronze, and gold only correct?

Yes they come in bronze, silver, and gold. Prices are around $60-$70 bronze,
$100 -$120 silver and $175-$200 gold. I like the ones with the serial number
on the back. There is a nice bronze on Estand now with a serial numer
on back. Very nice piece. Just my opinion anyway.

Snoopy is pretty much Dead on with his estimated prices. And sorry guys, I ended up snagging the numbered one on estand! lol the militaria addiction kicked in and I couldnt resist! haha. But the one you have pictured is nice too if you want a silver one. I personally would wait until another comes up on estand and spend the etra 5-10 bux if need be for a minty one

If I didn't already have a nice one, I would have bought it myself.

yes but please dont think I was knocking the badge at all!! It is still a nice honest piece and the price isnt too bad. And you are right too, I havent seen a silver one come up in a while either. I dont always go for the more minty badges all the time, but IMO the SA and DRL badges are ones that look better in this condition for display purposes. Good luck with whatever u decide to do!
