4 Medal Bar with Memel Medal

Hi Everyone,

I'd like your thoughts on this bar. The medals themselves look ok. The Memel is the slant "G" type. The ribbons appear to be correct and do not glow and feel right. The wool backing on the back is what concerns me. It appears that it was replaced or resewn at some point along the sides and lower edge. The thread does not glow.

Hello Keith,

I like this four-placer and I think it is completely genuine. I like the natural aging and all of the medals, ribbons, and mounting components look original. I suppose it possible that the backing cloth may have been re-sewn and/or replaced, but I would have no problem with having it in my collection. Looks good!

Hi Keith,

That configuration does seem to be the way the Memel is found when on a bar but I seldom see bars with Memel medals on them, particularly the Tilted G version, so I don't think it's common in terms of it's availability to collectors.

Hi Stu,

Yes, I was referring to the combination of the medals. This is only the second or third Memel medal that I've had and was sure it was original.
