I wonder if that's some sort of transplanted stickpin device...

That an intersting one, I've never seen one like it before?

The wings look to short for it to be some type of 1st class stickpin used to spice up a simple EK2 ribbon.

Let's here what Rick has to say.
      Regards,
      Chris

Always interested in buying Ribbon Bars or anything Ribbon Bar related!!

        Hi,

I'm with Chris (landsknechte) on this one. It looks like a genuine mini-device for a 1914EK2/1939EK2 Spange combo. I have the same device as imaged above, in combination with a 1914EK1/1939EK1 Spange (ie 4 awards on the one mini device, two 1914 EK minis, two 1939 Spange minis - one with larger wings over the 1st class, one with smaller wings over the 2nd class).

I doubt the device, used in this way, was official though.

        Regards
        Mike K

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

          Seriously unofficial!

My guess would be a stickpin device as well. Have never seen this on a ribbon bar. The EK device sans adler was popular in the twenties and thirties, not seen in WW2.

Is it just me or does the metal used in the Luft eagle and the EK/spange combo all appear to be exactly the same? <O</O

              Hi Gerd,

Since when You are collecting Feldspangen??
I agree with the other people that Your device is a mini-stickpin and does normally not belong there. So best case the recipient "upgraded" his bar like this as he received the EK-Spange.

              Best regards

              Daniel

Thanks a lot for your comments, guys.

Daniel, have not changed my collecting-field, just found this nice bar in a local shop, liked it and wanted to have some opinions about it. If its not a good one (what it its obviously not) it is not problem to give them back.

                Thanks again for the help!

                best,
                Gerd

From the little splints on back of the mini EK and Spange, I'd take that to be a device for sticking in a lapel bow. I've never seen one like this on a lapel bow, though.

Certainly shouldn't be on a ribbon bar, though! Likewise, the Luftwaffe 4 should be AFTER the Hindenburg Cross X. These Feldgrau painted individual tab back mounts (usually stamped "DRP" from top to bottom sideways somewhere on the back) came in during WW1. Long ones, not used and left over, are often found into the 1930s. I've never seen one used in WW-TWO though.

All in all, I'd say all original PARTS, but not an original ribbon bar with those devices (except the HC's X).

Thank you very much, Rick. It will go back to where it came from.
