Type 1 Wound Badges - Opinions Please

    Hi There,

I have had these badges for some time and would like to take this opportunity to ask fellow members for their opinons on them.

Badges were obtained from different sources at different times.

    Thanking in advance.

    Regards ...

    Hi Hagwalther,

The left badge is good and the right one is a known fake.

Frank, I can see differences between the 2 but for future reference (because I want to buy an early WB) what in particular screams fake in those differences?

        Hi Frank,

Why is the right one no good?Due to the weak detail on the swas? Here is mine

            Dear Al,

The differences are obvious when you look closer. Although there are of course many different types of original first pattern wound badges, this fake´s characteristics are that everything about it is a bit too crude and fat. Don´t get me wrong, the detail is excellent but the forms are crude. The things I detect this fake by:

            -fat swastika
            -"snouty" helmet front
-veins of leaves weird looking, too much "arranged", not natural
-sword grip´s end pommels too fat and almost perfectly round
-reverse setup also a bit too fat

Here are some more pics of the same fake in silver. If you want to buy one, save these pics and make sure it is not one of those.
            Cheers, Frank
