Blue Ost Campain Medal Award Packet

I have not seen many Blue colored award packets for the Russian Campaign Medal (Ostmedaille). Where these packets rare or only made by certain makers? If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated. Pictures would also be helpful, Thanks.

Eastern Front Medals come in three different sizes, a small one which it should be noted seems only used by Juncker (you'll notice there is a trend in award packets and boxes by Juncker to use smaller versions 'just', I might add......I'm researching these at this moment in time, although this is NOT always the case).

As I say a small one, then the normal 'generic' packet and a large one associated with EK 2's. The packets can also vary in the style of the flap, paper fold construction, designation 'type set', medal maker marks etc. There may exist other sizes but I'm not aware of them yet ?

You'll encouter blue, reddish brown, a very light tan, and tan coloured packets for these awards. The designation to my knowledge is always in the 'Latin' style not the gothic scrawl.

Medal makers though did not make packets or boxes, this was a seperate contract with another manufacturer of award packaging. The relationship of colour and size : It would be conjecture to divulge 'findings' I have at this moment in time, as there are several open correct answers to this.

I'm pushed for time right now and have inclusive findings, in the near future I hope I will be able to answer your question more directly.

Are blue packets rare, they're seldom seen for the Eastern Front Medal to my knowledge, the ones I see are always sold.

I would deem the Juncker marked small packet as 'rare' though, next the larger style packet as more desirable (not rare as such) before considering the colour on this paticular award packet.

I've more questions than answers at the moment, sorry to be so vague.

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

The packet on the left is Juncker marked, name & location only. L ?? and makers name & location is often encountered on the 'convential' packet to the right. I don't own a large packet.

Thanks Marcus for your reply. I recently purchased a "blue" packet Ost Medal. You can view the site http:www.blackcrossmilitaria.com/germans.htm

The medal/packet looked good to me. Since I thought it was more rare I purchased it.

      Thanks,
      Mike

        Hi Mike,

The links not working but please do post it when you get it.

It is a seldom seen packet, I guess by definition you could say 'rare' to a degree, personaly I think it was a worthy purchase........it's one on my wants list which is never ending.

        Kind regards,

        Marcus

          Thanks Marcus,

Again my poor computer skills are coming into play with the link. If you go to www.blackcrossmilitaria.com you will find the Ost Medal under the German sale section item #24.

          Thanks,
          Mike

Someone else must have a pic of a blue colored Ost Medal award packet?

                More pics would be helpful.

                Thanks,
                Mike
