    Heer Shooting Lanyard

I just got this lanyard and for the most part it looks good. However, I am not sure about the mark on the back. Also, is this a grade 6?
    Thanks,
    Eric

You have a very nice example of a Grade 3 Army marksmanship lanyard. The ink stampings on the back of the rosette on the protective wool are often missing or are very faint. I can't tell you who the logo stands for.

Even after all these years, collectors continue to find it difficult to distinguish between the 12 grades of the marksmanship lanyards. That is one of the reasons Neil Stewart and I researched, wrote, and published the book BULLS-EYE: German Army Marksmanship Lanyards and Tank Destruction Badges.

Thanks for the detailed answer Tim. I already have one of your books and it is outstanding. This lanyard just happen to fall into my lap. However, if I decided to start collecting more of these I will have to look into getting the book mentioned. Thanks Ken as well.

            Eric,

One additional comment on Tim's posting; this is the 2nd pattern shield for a grade 3 lanyard.
