    BIG Brass/Bronze Eagle

    Hey guys:

What do y'all make of this big 'ol eagle? This is the only photo I've got, just wondering what impression you guys get.

It is multi=piece and attached together, hollow construction.

Any idea what it was for? It has screw holes at the base I'm told.

    Thanks in advance!

Often you'll find the artists name or a company name on most eagles, so you might want to check it close when you get the chance to see it in person.

I cant say ive ever seen that exact eagle, as its larger than a standard eagle, and as you say attaches to something. Here's a site you might look through, and see if you can spot one , keeping in mind lots of these things and sites are no longer there. Many things altered remain, so good luck. http://www.thirdreichruins.com/contents.htm

By the way it looks cool, and i would ask them what they know about it, as if its a bring back by a relative they will tell you more sometimes than what you may find without asking. There really is something at times to the "story". Some disagree, but in my experience, i've found most families very helpful on original items. I would have expected this eagle to have had more of a patina than it has...I have no idea of whether it is an original or not, but seems well made anyway. Still worth scooping if you can . Good luck .

take a long hard look at the swastika, how it's attached etc.
I've seen old 'romanesque' eagles sitting on empty round wreaths 'converted' for the ww2 collector
you're no fool, but look very close!
      regards

The Swaz seems to be made of a different metal....or atleast it has a different look on the picture.

          Thanks

Thanks guys... My first thought was the Swaz looked odd too. If I get to see it in person, I'll get some better photos.

          Regards, Skip
