The Spanish Volunteer Division in Russia Campaign Medal

    Hello.

    Original or fake? Opinions please.

    Thanks in advance.

I had never seen one of these in this condition. As these medals were never worn in combats it´s very difficoult to find one of them in the ground.
Dificult to say if original or not. Looks like an early one made by Diez y Cia but these were widely faked 10 years ago and in this condition I can´t say if original or not watching the photo. Hardware must be tombac if this help, with bronzed colour inside.

      It is a copy.

I'm so sure because I had a same until I could buy the original and my copy I had the same defect on the ring without closing.

That itself is a very good copy, but it is a copy.

In the following pictures comparing the original and this copy differs in that it is a little small, I remember that a few millimeters smaller than the original is about 49 mm high by 35 mm wide, approximately.

Other features are a function remains in Lugano and I note with circles in yellow.

Another feature is the crown, in the original is slightly shifted to the left, and the copy is centered, I indicate with a red circle.

Again it is a very good copy, I sold on ebay of course as a copy for only 15 euros for some time.

      Greetings.

      Julio.

Edit: It is also less thick than the original, especially at the bottom is less than one millimeter.

I located the information he had on my copy, and exact measurements are:

34 mm wide by 43 mm to the crown

            When an original measures are:

37 mm wide by 45 mm

            Greetings.

If this is a copy it is one of the best copies I have ever seen!!! Honestly I'm on the fence with this one. I would love to hold this one in hand. Storm78 & JCM - 1963 do you guys own these and if you do would you be interested in selling them? If you don't own them could you point me to the person who does? I would like to use these in my study of this badge.

True, it is a very good copy, you can only appreciate the difference when you have in hand an original and check weights and measures, which are lower than the original, so others in photography is impossible to appreciate that this is a copy, even Gregorio Torres is a specialist in Spanish decorations hesitate to view the photos.

I sold mine, Storm78 may be interested in selling, perhaps through MP to reach an agreement.

                    Greetings from Madrid.

                    Julio.

Dear Kenneth, this copy is hard to identify by pictures, but you can do it when comparing carefully with an original as Julio has shown.
But when you have it your hand is very easy to distinguish the good and the bad one.
Measurement, weight, finish and hardware are quite different in the fakes.
