        The 2nd tray.......

The 2nd tray has a narrow space in the back for his ribbon bar. Larger space for medal bar and neck award.

          Medals & badges..

These medals and badges are not his. Unfortunately they have been lost to time. But with a name they could be reconstructed.

This is NOT beyond the realm of possibilities. The w reminds me of the cartouche of wilhelm rex, but cant be his , but i am assuming the boxes owner you mentioned must be deceased now, or is he? I do not think its fake or a repro. LW is the key i believe. Maybe to research names of the areas former nazi gauleiters or governors may lend a clue. I don't think youll get the final answer here right off, this could take years to solve. I like it, and congratulations on a extraordinary find. Thanks for showing it....its way cool.

LW is not for a Gauleiter, there was no gauleiter who had those initials.
