I'm pretty sure this 4yr service award is good, but would like to hear oppinions. Thanks.

here's a look at what's underneath. Does this mean anything?

Medal looks good to me. The backing plate and the thread used for the mount all look period to me also.

Patrick, what makes you think the ribbon is a fake? I would have thought it was also period.

            Kind regards

some additional info. The ribbon does have an aged smell to it and the appearance is worn/aged with consistancy. The texture also feels semi warn. not too hard, not too soft. I aquired this piece at a gun show in the USA in 1988.

                Guys

The ribbon has smooth edges, wartime ones have very noticeable loops on the edge- seriously dig out a wartime ribbon and you will see the problem!

I agree, the medal is good but the edges of the ribbon are questionable

Have to say that reverse, the way of attachment looks good to me, there are also visible signs of the loops that Patrick has mentioned. In my opinion I would be happy with that one

The ribbon looks fine to me and does appear to have the loops discussed. It has the age wear and mounting style that to me seems totally in keeping with other examples.

I have to agree with this. Looks like an original example in every sense, though the ribbon edges maybe a little worn, making most of the loops hard to make out.

Thanks guys for all the great input. I really do appreciate it. Here are three more shots of the ribbon to hopefully give a better feel for the ribbon.
