    West Wall Medal

I new to collecting so I get excited with the easier things to get my hands on. This is my newest addition to my collection. Don't mind the date stamp from my camera, I still haven't figured out how to change it.

Looks like a good medal and packet. Does the ribbon glow under black light?
    Nice find, congrats.

In my opinion, an original Westwall Medal in zinc with original packet but the ribbon is a reproduction. I would check the ribbon with a blacklight as Andy mentioned. (The whites will probably glow neon bluish-purple.) Even if the ribbon passes the blacklight test, though, it is still a reproduction because the weave is not correct.

      Best regards,
      Tom

Comparison of original and fake Westwall ribbons. The color of the ribbon is not necessarily an indicator of fake or real, as original Westwall ribbons can range from brown to golden-yellow. Look closely at the edges of the ribbons and compare the looser, looped edges of the real ribbon with the tight, almost loop lacking edges of the modern ribbon.

Thanks for your input. I paid $25 for everything so I figure thats a good price for a original Medal and packet. I am sure I can find an original ribbon to go with it for a decent price.
