Hi please do not take what I say as gospel as could well be wrong but I thought the wreaths on these were gold in colour? What I do notice is that the wreath and eagles feet lack detail, there also appears to be pitting to the eagle and the side looks like file marks, I had one of these quite some time back and they were lovely in detail. Just my opinion.

            Ring

Hi, would feel more comfortable if the ring was soldered, but that alone does not condemn it

              Ribbon looks repro/post-war IMO.

I am not an expert in these, by far.
But based on the look of the enamal and the lack of details, I would say that this one is a repro.

                BUt wait for the experts.

                  Hey Tony,

I'm, by no means, an expert on these or any other subject, but I can share some observations which might be helpful and/or give pause.

From what I 'recall' of looking into these when I purchased my 1st class, the lower grades didn't have enamel on the reverse side. They were, I'm pretty sure, gold. I believe (guessing by way of a failing memory) that the neck orders were enameled on the reverse.

I posted a similar one to yours here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...81861#poststop which got no comment. Notice the lack of space between the legs & wings (like yours).

My 'guess' is in both of these cases we're looking at a reproduction.

Been looking around again and I'm sure there's a link somewhere, but haven't found a third class with enamel on the reverse. That said, perhaps someone has an example that's enameled on the reverse to show us.

                    Rick
