    Heer Honor Ring

    Dear Members,
here is a photo of a nice honor ring of the 9.Armee. For me it is the first time I see such a ring. Has anyone a similar ring or have seen one before?

        Dear Kai,
I have never seen a ring like this before. Looks like the text "Ring der 9.Armee" has been added later, probably by the owner.

What does the inside inscription read?

          Hi Pascal,
the discription was not added by the owner. The ring was a award of the 9.Armee. Have a look in the inside.

Call me a sceptic... but isnt this consistant with the engraving done by a modern electrical engraving machine?

I agree the engraving look really new. And the "Ring der Neunte Armee" seems to be written just in case a collector might not understand what it is. The problem with ring is that there is often no way whatsoever to know when they were made.

Being European shouldn't the seven have a bar through it?
                Just a thought.

Looks to me that there is a distinct difference in quality between the engraving of the symbols and the text.

Either the engraving was done with a modern handheld engraver, or it was tapped out by hand using a small punch...very tedious...and not professionally done.

At the best, this is more along the lines of "trench art" by a bored soldier, or an out right fake. I would expect that if this was worn, even a few months, the engraving to be packed with grime, especially on the inside.
