      George,

How much does your example weigh that looked okay to start with, not the iffy one.

      Thank you Bryan.

Anyone else who has any examples care to weigh them please or post pic's ?

Any other opinions out there at all about these medals and the ones so far shown. What were the weight's in Detlevs fake of the week, I was in Germany and unable to view it at the time, is there anyway to access this information post last week ?

      Kind regards,

      Marcus

        Guys-

Here is my Memel medal. It is part of a medal bar with an EK2 and KM 4 Yr LS medal. It seems to be identical to the ones posted early in the thread - it has the smaller M in MARZ than in MEMELLANDES.

        Unfortunately, I can't provides weights.

        Regards,
        Brian

            Marcus,

The "non-iffy" one weighs 13.4 g and is 32.1 mm diameter.
And I have another one on a four-medal bar which has the smaller "M" in "Marz."

These are the weights in regards to the Detlev 'fake of the week'

This is based I think on one fake, and one example of an original ?

                Fake:

                W 31.95 mm
                H 36.17 mm
                W 16.15 g

                Original:

                W 32.20 mm
                H 37.17 mm
                W 13.19 g

It's by no mean's conclusive and I don't think it is intended so, this must be used with the reference pictures 'Copy & Original' posted by Frank on the first page of this thread. The fake pictured is one example of I guess many varying in quality and dimension's & weight.

Of the five other Flower Wars Medals I have, they all vary in thickness and weight to a lesser or greater degree (14-15g), the dimension's by a hairs breadth are to all intents and purpose's the same as the Memel all under 32 mm. The details all vary too, different makers etc I guess.

I don't suppose we'll ever get to the bottom of this, we really need the pictures of known quality fakes to compare the medals. At least I know what to buy the wife for her B'day a lovely set of scales.

                Kind regards,

                Marcus

At the risk of causing another massive furore here is my 'new' Memel Medal which I pounced on when I saw it. I PX'd my old one from the beginning of the thread (which I think everyone agrees is a fake) for this one and it was a reasonable deal. The dealer couldn't see the difference! It has (according to what I've read in all the posts to this thread!) 4 acorns at the bottom, crooked 'G', small 'm' and small 'A'. I am not really concerned as to whether anyone else has a fake/original etc, just the peace of mind that my one is authentic. Thanks for all the info on the thread BTW.

                          Hi Paul

Thanks for the link - that scares the s... out of me I immediatly wrote that guy a mail. The least he could do was to stamp "copy" somewhere in his items. This way he would not supply svindlers with so much ammo. I won´t write here what I think should happen to guys like him but it includes a rifle and a dark cellear.
