    Hi Karsten,

thank you for the S&L picture.

And now? What is with your vote in the Memelland poll for the upright G?

In the meantime we have four different contemporary pictures with an upright G.

    Kind Regards
    Uwe

      Hello Uwe,

If I may ask, where are the other pictures located that you mentioned?

      Mfg,

        Hi

        Do you mean this picture?

(Remark: I have removed the picture which was obviously altered from the original. I also would like to stat that if this was supposed to be a joke it was a very bad one. Forging in a serious forum is not funny! Dietrich)

No, in his post he stated that there were "four different contemporary pictures with an upright G" and I wanted to know where those other ones were located.

          Thanks,
          John

I advice you to remove that image that where you have manipulated the G in post#18.

Do I need to tell you that it is not very smart if somebody does not notice the difference and download it and us it as reference

              Hi John,

one is here in Post 13 (not in Post 18 , there are some which cannot lose).

                    Hi

So obviously I photo shopped the picture. You might ask yourself why? Well I was trying to prove a point and that is just because someone posts an image of something does not give it providence!!! How do you know that the image that Karsten posted was not photo shopped? You don't and you won't. I am not questioning Karsten integrity because as of yet I have had nothing but positive experiences with him but it still does not mean the image is time period. I know that this is going to stir up some crap but think about it logically have any of you held these catalogs in your hands seen them in real life and not only over the internet. These days everything is faked to include images so unless I have seen them personally I do not believe in them. Look how easy it was for me to change a little piece of the image and poof a slanted "G" and I used Microsoft Paint not some fancy software. Don't get me wrong I do believe that there are Memel medals out there with straight a "G" that are time period but not all with a straight G's are time period. Honestly I have been working to put out some kind of reference material on this subject. Unfortunately my computer crashed last summer and I lost a few years of work. I am going to be trying to get most of it back together and if anyone wants to come on board I would love the help. Please let me know.

                      Kenneth,

basically your are right in what you are saying. I know that Karsten's picture was not photoshoped since I own several S&L catalogs.

Your point is a very good point but should have been made in "red". By doing it in this style, some people might save the picture and confusion reins. That is my point.

Yesterday we actually managed to discover and identify an original Memelland Medal apart from the "tilted G"

It is made by Otto Schickle

                          Best Regards

                          Karsten

P.S. Thanks Dietrich for sorting it out with the false image.

I am resurfacing this thread because I will be listing this medal on the eStand. I also found a reference to this medal in "Medals & Decorations of the Third Reich" by Dr. Heinrich Doehle (who was an SS Colonel and the Under State Secretary in the Chancellery of the Head State & State Chancellor). The example used is of a non-tilted "G".

John, it seems you missed really a lot about Memel medals...

                                You should check this thread:
                                http://wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/s...d.php?t=625066

PS: anyway your medal is a copy, based on the design of the possibly post-war Steinhauer & Luck "B" Memel.
