    Bavarian Officer's medal bar

    Hello to all,

Here is a nice four-place Bavarian Officer's medal bar. The Bavarian Military Merit Order is by Gebrüder Hemmerle and has real gold center medallions. The placement of the medals is per 1939 regulations: with the lowly 1939 KVK2X placed before the Bavarian MVO4X.

    Best regards,
    Tom

The protective backing cloth is long gone from the back of this medal bar. The nice thing about this is that we can get a good look at how these things were put together.

      Hi Tom,

Dang...that looks tougher to tie than a KM dagger portepee.

Maybe we will see this bar again soon in the Construction Methods chapter of Volume 2?

      Best regards,
      Stu

Looks like second award is replaced

Very nice bar indeed! Proof that the simple can look great and MVO is amazing as imperial can be!

          BUSTED!

OK guys, I confess! This is how the bar looked a few days ago when I bought it off ebay: A Kyffhäuserbund Medal was in the second position which, of course, does not belong on this bar. The switch may have been made decades ago, by the German veteran wanting to de-nazify his medal bar post-WWII or, more recently, by the ebay seller wanting to keep the ebay police from canceling his auction. Regardless of when the switch was made, the bar has now been restored to its original condition.

          Best regards,
          Tom

                Thanks Don!

And what a deal this medal bar was. I got it cheap because the seller only had a three-day auction plus he had it closing at a very bad time of the day. In addition, the seller had blocked all foreign bids which, in auctions, is like cutting your own throat.

                Best regards,
                Tom

Blocking foreign bids is not really like cutting ones throat. The seller most likely got tired of the about the cost of shipping, I knew I have. Even after going thru the process to get and find the cheapest way they're a few that what it for almost free.

Still a very nice additon to any collection.
