WH Long Service awards and Imperial/Reserve Service

Can someone please clarify how the criteria for WH service awards treated WWI service if no Imperial service award was rendered. Would 3 years of WWI service be counted towards the 4 year WH award or ?

The other thing I cannot find anywhere is if time in WH Reserves for part-time officers counted toward the 4 year requirment.

    Thanks,

Ostensibly, war service as a reserve or Landwehr officer didn't count towards Wehrmacht LS medals. I own WW1-WW2 groups and wehrpasses where this seems to hold true.
However, this seems to also have been waived or at least fudged sometimes. I have seen a group to a Stabarzt dR. where he got LS medals in 1939 upon recall.
The award of state medals seems to also be somewhat similar. Ostensibly dR status didn't get you a LS medal for Bavarian, Wurtembergian or Saxon service. However, one Unterofficer Hitler got a Bavarian LS medal in 1918 (Sept.1918) and he was a reservist in BRIR16.
    So it's a bit vague.
I think that war service counted towards state and police LS awards though. Someone with an actual copy of the state regs. can anwser you definitively.
