Gold Shooting Badge?

I've never seen one of thease. I do believe it's a shooting award. The pin on back is plated in real gold. I do believe it's a period piece but unsure what it was a warded for. Any thoughts?

Not seen that one before but I like it a lot, the back looks to be zinc that would have originally been the same gold as the rest of the badge. Great looking item.

The zink back does show traces of once being gold. I wonder if it was a high award for shooting...I would think so since its gold and all.
