    What award is this?

    Hey guys,

I recently bought a soldbuch with this award listed.. I gather that its a bulgarian soldiercross 3rd class.

What does the KGL stand for??

Can anyone show me a picture of one?

I've been searching this forum and cannot find anything about one.

    Thanks for any help.

A quick Google search turned up this example of the Bulgarian Soldier's Cross. I believe it came in several classes. Not sure what the Kgl stands for.

      Hi Rose,

Kgl. is the German abreviation for the word "Königliches". It means Royal. That entry is for the Royal Bulgarian Soldier's Cross Third Class.

It's the one in post 2 but in GOLD color (silver is 4th class). Originally it should have a tryfold ribbon. Full name is "Royal Bulgarian soldier's cross of the order for bravery 3rd class".
4th class often given to enlisted men, 3rd class most to non commissioned officers.

            Hi,

the third class is not in gold, it is in silver like the fourth class.
The picture in Post 2 show a fourth class, long ribbon or trifold ribbon.

Third class please see here, the long ribbon with a bow:

It is the same for the first and the second class, the crosses in gold.

You need the one just like Uwe shows, except that it needs to have "1941" on the cross rather than "1915". It is only the addition of the ribbon bow that distinguishes the third class from the fourth class.

                Best regards,
                Tom
