Very Naughty...I hope your friend got a receipt at the time and reminds the dealer that he only gets out once a year and its to the Maxx show.

How often do you get a receipt for a purchase at a show? This whole situation is B.S. and if he won't refund his money, I will be happy to start the thread anew and name the dealer . Come to think of it, if he does refund his money, I will name the dealer and compliment him on the validity of his lifetime guarantee policy.

One of the main reasons Neil Stewart and I wrote and published our book BULLS-EYE: German Army Marksmanship Lanyards and Tank Destruction Badges, was to provide detailed information, written and visual, so collectors would be able to critically assess these items before putting out their hard earned money.

In retrospect, it would seem $65.00 for a book to educate oneself is not a lot of money when contemplating laying out $800.00 or more for a TDB. I have a small library of books beside me that I constantly refer before I buy many of the items I come across on the internet. Those books have been invaluable time and time again.

This is not the first time a dealer has slipped one past someone. A dealers reputation is a powerfull thing and can cause people to let their guard down. A couple years ago there was a gold CCC purchased and returned when it was found to be repainted. Hopefully this piece will also be returned.

I am not putting anybody down here but why would your friend wait a year to show off his badge that he bought from this well known dealer?I mean when I buy something that I really like I show it off to everybody and tell them the dealer I bought it from and see what everybody thinks of my item. I don't care who I bought it from,if I put out $800 for something that I was looking for and found for my collection I want other collectors to see it and check out what I bought and let them know the dealer because the dealer may have something they are looking for.If the item was a fake I would know right away and then take it back to the dealer right away for my refund so there would not be any problem.Waiting a year can cause some problems as others here have stated like the badge is not the one I sold you a year ago etc.Jmo.I really hope everything works for your friend.

I have unfortunately seen at least three cases where three 'well known' militaria dealers from germany put similair fake TDB's up for the price of authentics.

Sometimes I guess, they need the money so bad to pay for the rent and employees that they 'risk' selling reproductions as real... pretty stupid and foolish IMO but imaginable.

I always get a heart-ache when I have been decieved by people you think you could trust. Mostly they never earn anymore penny's from me.
Anyway it does have one advantage; I stay alert, learn more about the subject and be sceptical when dealing with people who sell militaria (at any cost) for a living.

I assume B.S. is Bill Shea, He would have been one of the last person i would have thought about as being the seller of that badge.
