This ring was added in a recent trade, and I don't know anything about these rings, nor am I interested in them... But maybe there is anyone of you who can tell me if this is a fake item, or if there actually were rings like this made by German soldiers...? The ring is made of silver, most likely in Norway, and it is maker marked "830S" (denoting silver content?) and "VT". The design shows a LW eagle, the year 1940 and "NORGE". Inside the ring are the following engraved: "W.S."/"Stavanger"/"Sola 9.4.40". This could, I suppose, be interpreted as a LW-soldier/officer bearing the initials W.S. participated in the attack on the Sola airfield in Stavanger on April 9, 1940, and "celebrated" it by having this ring made. The engravery looks genuine enough, as does the ring's ageing. But I have no idea... What do you guys think?
Cheers,
Mike G
