    Couple of GAB questions

    Hi guys...and gals.
I had a GAB years ago - but sold it several years back. I am looking to add one back into the collection...but the ones I see on the estand all seem to be unmarked...was that the case with them? I don't recall what the back of mine looked like, other than it was a solid example. Any help with the marked/unmarked question ... and in locating one that is not an arm and a leg ( doesn't have to be perfect ) would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Cheers!

Hi there,a fairly large majority of GAB's are unmarked. But several makers such as Assmann & Wurster that did have makers marks to some of their variants,if not all. Stewy

      Hi Bigbander

Stewy is 100% right, most GAB's that I see are unmarked...

As already said, many GABs are unmarked - but that does not mean that you cannot identify the maker. A certain book by Frank H has made identifying the makers of un-marked GABs much easier. To me a nice un-marked GAB is just as precious as a marked one - all but 2 of the GABs I have are un-marked, guess what the nicest ones in my collection are un-marked - but they are identifyable ti specific makers.

If looking for a GAB just keep an eye on estand - nices ones pop up regularly.
