Hi gents. As you can see from my post history, I am more knowledgeable of post war East Germany.
However, a co worker brought some things that were his grandfathers. They remained in his footlocker until his death in 2001.
Am I correct in assuming that badges, hat cockades and Kragenspiegel are worth more if the original makers sticker is on the back?
He had lots of interesting items. One was a boxed ribbon/badge denoting 25 years service to the feuerwehr: SS Kragenspiegel, cloth: "Alles fuer Deutschland" dagger: a riding crop, and a few EK amongst other items. Belt buckles ets.
Regarding belt buckles, I know the army used the one that said "God is with us." but who used one that said "My Faith/Honor is True"?
One was a winter sports badge, "Schutzpatron d. Wintersportler." Any idea about this item?
O yeah, he had an original edition of Mein Kampf, with the paper protective sheet for hitler's picture and the original box that the book slid into. The side of the book said Kriegs-Ausgabe, and inside it was dated 1941, published by the central publishing house of the NSDAP. Any Idea of how rare that is?
BTW: he is not interested in selling any of the items.....I tried
Any help would be appreciated.
Jon.
