ground assualt with gold eagle

i met someone who has a ground assualt with a gold eagle on it, and he said when he was in germany back in the late 60's he was told by the man who recived it from was one that was issused to a flyer who flew like recon or something like that, off the coast. he said they were issued to the members who would spot and sometimes attack boats.

have anyone seen such an item?

Some Ground assault badges have a eagle of thin stamped brass attached. When the silvering is gone it looks like gold.

it wasen't the copper or brass, it was really gold...
