    Gab

Hey guys. SO I went out today and found an interesting piece. Pics will be following shortly, I don't have them right this instant but I wanted to explain my finding asap!

It's a GAB. If you go to the link here (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_...al_assault.htm) and scroll to the very bottom, it is similiar to that GAB. It has a gold wreath with silver eagle clutching the swastika. The bayonet/sword (which ever it is) crossed with the stick grenade. Below on the bottom of the wreath in the box is the number "100".

The piece still had virtually all of the finish and looked stunning. My interest has really been more with EKs, but I had alwayas planned on grabing up one or two of each of the general awards like PAB IAB GAB etc etc. My point here is simply, I can't spot a fake badge if my life depended on it

Anyhow I also realize that the GAB with "100" on it is UBER rare, as mentioned in the article provided. On top of the rareity the quality is a surprise. It was maker marked JFS. I had a friend take a pic of the MM, the hinge, and the front. I hope they give enough detail for an accurate assessment, but if not I can always go back and get some more. Anyhow I know it's hard to discuss without pics, I get it. BUT perhaps someone could talk about the characteristics of these badges and the probability that this is already rare badge could also be found in great condition, until I am able to get the pics and post them (hopefully later tonight or tomorrow)?!

Don, no worries, thanks a bunch! I didn't have my hopes up at all so it's not much of a let down. The only reason I posted was for piece of mind so I wouldn't kick my own ass looking back thinking I should have veryfied it! Thanks a bunch.

P.S. Can you or anyone point out any specifics of what sets this as a fake? Just curious and would like to know for future refrence. Thanks.

The shiney chrome finish for starters. Search up in the Heer War Badges forum and you will find originals to study.
