    wow-

actually, I would buy #1. I think its' good. Someone who knows how to stitch,' old-school' went to town on the reinforced backing on that bar. Ask your wife/girlfriend/taylor how difficult THAT stitching is.

#4, the eagles look funny to me ....depends on price. I refuse to pay more than $20 for any common ribbon bar, which is what these all purport to be. I would avoid it.

    I am cheap.

Devices I don't know about as I rarely study these.

The NEW and updated ribbon device article however, is superb for this. Who knew there were/are 15+ different types of original eagle out there ?

I would go to RR to have him pass judgment.

They all "make sense" in the 'career story' they denote, which is good.

    (a) I don't see the infamous brass snipped catches, which is also good.

    (b) There is no uneven wear, nor mixed ribbon sizes, nor outlandishly odd combinations, nor uniface backing stitching so beloved by "the club" et al. (except the last one).

    (c) ribbon thread width seems to be WW2 vintage-ish on everything I looked at.

    Warning bells saying "look harder".....:

    1. Luftschutz ribbon (which is possible here with this combo)....

    and :

    2. Prague device: heavily faked and rare-ish. I don't know if it's original. Others here will/should.

Pass a magnet over the LS eagles. Many were made of iron (which tom Y. helpfully points out in his book) so they should be attracted, but there were aluminum ones and even some zincers!

But, they look veeery new for items worn every day in uniform.

The combo ribbons are unusual and a good sign. Combo ribbons were produced in the 1950s for sure...but we know they were also produced heavily during the TR.

Have you blacklighted them at all?

    What do they smell like?

    Hope this helps.

Wow guys! Thanks for the replies. I will take a closer look and do the blacklight test when I get home this evening (it's going to be a long day for me, so it'll probably be after 8:00 this evening).
