    Advise on New Collections

I just got a silver PAB from Detlev and intending to buy a gold wound badge from Gailen David. The PAB is unmark and even Detlev does not know the marker of the badge. About Gailen's GWB, it's a mark '65' but the marker mark looks a bit strange to me. Any input of these?

"...and even Detlev does not know the marker of the badge."

Hi Stanley. you should not let the fact of an "unidentified" maker deter you from thinking that a badge is authentic. Fact is: there were approximately 135 authorized Prasidialkanziei manufacturers...many of whom simply did not mark their badges or other items.

IMO...there is far too much emphasis on trying to identify badge makers...AS IF this somehow authenticates a badge, or makes it more "believable" or valuable.

FACT IS, that many badge components: basic design, hinges, catches and pins were purchased outright from suppliers....so, you cannot always determine the maker of a badge simply by matching it to another badge. The attribution of unmarked badges to known makers tends to narrow down the number of makers into only those that marked their badges....and ignores that fact that many makers didn't mark them.

BTW...your pictures did not show up because you have to be an "Association Member" in order to attach your files. Twenty bucks...a good investment!

Hey guys: Thank you very much for your advise on this subject. Actually, I immediately discovered that my pictures did not show up after posting. $20.00 is really a good value for posting pictures.

Lorenzo: Thank you for your advise and I just visited your page which is very informative. Keep up the good work.

Vadim: I will send you a pm later.

If any of you can advise me a link to check both PAB and GWB will be very much appreciated.

Ok, how about starting with sites run by our own members
          Mike's PAB site http://tankbadges.homestead.com/
          and Chris' WB site http://www.woundbadges.150m.com/

You can also do a search on 65 gold wound badge in the archives here, there should be some threads. Hope this helps.
