    Gen.Maj. Hans Erdmann ribbon bar?

Hi all! What were Luftwaffe Gen.Maj. Hans Erdmann's awards on his ribbon bar? I have seen a pic on the internet, his ribbon bar has 6 ribbons. Can identify 5 of them-

Ek, ?, HCX, 18yr, 4yr, Sudetenland.... what is award no.2?

    How does this compare to the ribbon bar pictured? {with the exception of the spange}

    Thanks to all who assist!
    Pierce

        Hello Pierce,

The second ribbon is the WW1 Baden Order of the Zähringen Lion (with swords). How the medal looks like can be seen here:

        http://home.att.net/~david.danner/militaria/baden.htm

Unfortunately, I cannot tell if Generalmaj. Erdmann wears that same kind of ribbon bar. The photo is black-and-white, but I tend to say that a green ribbon would look different when black-and-white. Otherwise I don't have any source which mentions he won this particular award.
I know where the picture of the ribbon bar comes from , but do you have an image from the reverse?

        Cheers,
        Laurens

          Hi Laurens,

Thanks for replying! I know what the orders on the ribbon bar are, i was referring to the 2nd ribbon on Erdmann's ribbon bar in the pic. No one can find out this award in any of the award roles, he is not listed anywhere, but as we can see from the picture he was awarded something. In your opinion how would a green ribbon look in black and white? Do you think this is a good match?

          Thanks
          Pierce

It's the same combination, but not the same bar as on the photo imo. Just look at the lw long service awards for example, the space between the eagles wings and the top is much bigger on your bar than on the photo. Also the ek2 clasp is missing.
            Kind regards,
            Giel

Here is what Rick Research had to say on the matter:

"It looks like a Saxon Albert Order, which would have been a Knight 2nd Class X for his rank BUT

he is on no award rolls. He either fell through the cracks getting listed for Saxony or maybe is among the illegible late 1918 Baden Zähringen Lions. The thing is-- he had no apparent affiliation with EITHER, so... ???

I've GOT the Zähringen Rolls--including almost 1,000 that the late Erhard Roth never published but ther are about 90 that are simply not legible as copied. The Ersatz ink of late 1918 is fading away fast (saschhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaa) and the Saxons stopped gazetting awards in 1918-- in fact, they stopped issuing anything but paper in 1918.

So there is simply no way to find this information now with what we have. There was no obvious reason for him to have received either-- or anything else
              ."

Also here is the link to the thread on GMIC Forum...i did not receive much more assistance there.

All i want are a few more opinions. The detail on the black and white picture is somewhat skewed making it hard to make the detail of the bar. My other thought was perhaps this could be another bar belonging to the Generalmajor? Not uncommon for an Officer to have more than one ribbon bar. What are your thoughs on this?

              Really appreciate the help,
              Pierce
