Honour Clasp cases - Metal or Paper hinge?

    Hi All,

I have an Army Honour Clasp which I am 100% where the case has a paper hinge.

I have seen other awards where the cases have metal hinges, would these be an earlier made variation. Can any members post some photos of their clasps and award cases showing construction to see what different types there are?

    Regards

                        Deschler Case?

                        Hi Marcus,

I was wondering......about your case! I think, as far as I know, that all three Honour Roll Clasps were attributed to "Klein", were they not? If that is the case, why would they have a Deschler label on the award box? Unless, this is the possible difference in the two variations, that have been talked about, for this award. There might have been two manufactures. Then again....! Something to look into anyways! You have the so called "accepted" clasps, don't you Marcus?

                        Cheers,
                        James

                          Hi James,

No the awards were fakes, but I do have an 'accepted' Navy Roll on the way, the Luft was not like any known original nor was the Naval Roll, the long pronged blunt Naval did come in the maker marked box though, not that means a thing really. A lot of genuine awards are paired to boxes and fakes paired to genuine boxes. If I'm correct, of which I'm certain of I've seen the blunt pronged (Navy) in genuine boxes for sale in the UK, and unboxed.(ie Regimentals for one in the past, lastly he had a genuine one or accepted style, more expensive than the long pronged blunt one he had before that ???? uuummm)

I've read also the Naval and Luft awards came in boxes with lid linings of white silk, I can't ever think of seeing one like that for a Luft or Navy, although I'm sure this variation exists, it's only the base colours that difffer.

Klein we know made the Navy and army do we know anything of the air force maker/s yet, if anything all the genuine boxes you see around I'd bet they originated with a Luft Roll in them more than half of the time, thats what I suspect of mine and would be more inclined to think if (big IF) any award had more than one maker it would be the Luft award, cheap stamped out little thing like a button, 30,000 odd just rendered. How many more of this little tinker were made.

                          Kind regards,

                          Marcus

                            Marcus, James

How do we know the Navy and maybe the Luft were manufactured by Klein. I have only seen the Klein logo on the insert of Army awards

                            Rob.

                              Hi Rob,

I believe there are Navy badges that are marked with the 'K', and in the boxes under the tray I've read (only) that there is a K in a circle stamped in the box, how true that is or whether it's the box maker, a code of some sorts etc. I don't know.

In regards to Luft makers I've asked this question before and got no where, I only assume at this moment in time we don't know for sure ! Klein would be logical but it's not based on the premise of a makers mark or anything substantive.

Does anyone have a maker marked Naval Roll or better still a Luft Roll ?

Does anyone have a maker marked box for any of the Roll's ?

                              Kind regards,

                              Marcus
