      Hi John......

......perhaps you could you humor us with some straight on shots? Please.

It is funny in a way since it is being sold as a TR piece but, in the interest of trying to find out what the heck it is, I have posted it.

Personally, I think it has nothing to do with the TR but maybe a Lufthansa pilot badge--either cap or tunic? I do not know. I have a few other images, but not exactly straight on. It is not mine.

        Thanks, John

Like I said in your other thread (why two??), it looks like an RAF eagle with a German style pin.

Actually three--since I had no idea what this thing was, I posted it on foreign, civil and general awards forums. Been around long enough to know that with some of these awards, be it a badge or medal or this eagle, better to spread the question around a bit since things get so specialized here.

In any case, so those that mainly are in this forum know, Bob Hritz says that it is s a French souvenir eagle which were very popular with WWI avaitors. They were private purchase items and are commonly seen in WWI photos.

Thanks for the input Dave and Bruce, I will pass the information along to the owner.

                    Paul,

Just so you know this eagle is being discussed in this thread by Bob Hritz; your opinion would be appreciated. I will try to get the wing span measurements. Seems like that is important to know.
