    Wehrmacht Civilian Employee Badge?

I found this going through some things I had packed away. My memory of some of my things is fading, but as best as I can recall this is a badge for civilian employees in service to the Wehrmacht or Wehrmachtsgefolge. I think it was mostly given to females, but am not really sure of that; however I don't remember much else about it, like when it was established, etc.. I suppose it was rather common?

What can you tell me about it?

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Hi Ron,

The badge was instituted 1. Oct. 1941 to worn by civilian personnel in the Wehrmacht. Females recieved the 35mm brooch-type (safety-pin), identical to the one you've posted and a 23mm regular pin for males.

Non-German civilians wore an armband on the left upper arm "Im Dienst der Deutschen Wehrmacht.

    cheers

      Peter,

This is very late in coming, but thank you. The only excuse I have is that not too long after the posting, I started having more medical problems......sort of ending with a stroke, which caused me to have to retire. I am better now with some remaining problems of balance, weakness, and some memory loss resulting from brain damage (mild). I forgot about the post and stumbled onto it tonight while looking for other things.......so I am thanking you now. Also I assume the badge was designed by Placzek and made by Juncker.

      Thanks,
      Ron

        Hi Ron,

I'm sorry to hear about your misfurtune and hope things will get better. Correct, Placzek designed them and Juncker most definately made them, as can be seen on the marking. I've three different designs of the 23mm version in my collection, one hollow stamped unmarked and two soilid with PL. and Ju. markings. The only difference is one of the latter has the area next to the swastika cut out. I forgot to mention, these badges were worn in occupied or allied territories.

        cheers
        Peter
