Fake Afrika Medal - Opinions

Hello People,

This week arrived this medal of left. The medal of right is one of my collection, one early in Tombak Afrika Medal.

There are some point diferents in these medals. The ribbon of the left medal have dimensions wrongs and shine in UV light. I think that is a fake.

Well, the ribbon is fake. Not so sure about the medal yet.

I'm not happy with the one on the left, yes it looks cast - but there is some ageing that is hard to fake (but I still think it's a fake - gut feeling).

In my opinion would not like this in my collection many things wrong with this one. Ageing also looks artifical. Not one for me.

the casting is so bad, it stands out as a fake immediately.

And the one on the left is cast from what? Not saying yet that it is real, but why, on a casting, are the letters so much wider apart and so far from the crocodile's left appendage? Are there not at least two or three versions of this medal by the same company?

P.S. I have no doubt that it IS cast.

Yes, this medal have 2 models of the same manufacture (early in tombak and later in tombak an zinc). I had 3 or 4 this medal of both type. I never saw one this with problem of cast.

For me is one fake for these motives...

Yes, I saw this topic. Both Afrika medals are OK for me: early and later zinc version. But they haven't problems with cast. They are perfect for me.

This figure of my left Afrika Medals is of the early version in Tombak. But the finish is very bad. One early item don't have this finish...

Same "bleed out" into the rim of the crocodile's right arm.

Because this was a private "novelty" item by Lorioli, only later given quasi-official status, I would not be at all surprised to see more than the standard tombac version and zinc version, especially as there are, apparently, at least two accepted tombak versions, not one, with design differences. I would like to see closer-up photos of this one, including photos of the edge, as well as measurements.

Will agree, its a casting, but shows they are even trying to redo these medals. There was just something about it when i saw it that i didn't like, the color and the just the crocodile in the front are just shxt. I have like 4 or 5 of these in different colors and materials, never seen one like this. Thanks for post Be careful out there gentleman and ladies!!! Matt

Yeah i know everything is copied but its the first dak medal i have seen. Ah well. Nice to see one before i run into them out there.
