Herman Goring Division and the Italo - German Medal for the Campaign in Africa

Would units in the HG division been awarded this medal?

I dont think so.
I understand the medal was only awarded to members of the DAK (active 1941-42).
HG Division was only active in Tunisia as part of Heeresgruppe Afrika, and was not a member of the earliler Deutsche Afrikakorps formation in Libya and Egypt .
I also can't remember ever seeing any 1943 issued citations, only 1942 issued ones.
So, my answer is no, they were only entitled to the Luftwaffe blue Afrika cufftitle for service in that theatre.

I agree with "milcollector".
I have all surviving items of the last Ia-officer of "HG" in Africa. He had the "Italo-German-Medal", but was awarded it in 1942 as a member of LW-Flak-Abt. 25.

As peter said, only to members of the HG that had been in Africa with other units before joinning the HG
