I like the other medals, as for the SS i dont know, would think that would come a little higher up than the ost medal but hey i didn't make the bar. Awsome looking. Matt

          SS medal is not original.

Thanks...thought it wouldn't be. What about the others....or the armband?

This is a horrible, postwar put-together using a mixture of original and reproduction parts. The medals are probably all original, except for the SS Long Service Cross. Looks like the front of the Russian Front Medal has been painted with black and silver paint. The ribbons look like they were deliberately dirtied in an attempt to make them look old. This whole thing is such a mess. The only thing they got right is the order of the awards. I can't write anymore about this. I'm ready to puke.
The SS armband is also a fake.

              Best regards,
              Tom

Another big give away besides the fake 12 year is the how the ribbon for it is attached.

It is folded different than the others and a blotched job at that. And as for the hanging if the 12year was awarded then there would be an 8 year next to it according to regulations.

The ribbon for the SS 12 year Service Award is supposed to be folded differently than the others (although I do agree that it is a botched job on a 2-piece fake medal). The 12 & 25 year awards, along with a few others, such as the 25 year Police award & the Customs Award were intentionally supplied with a wider (50mm) ribbon to facilitate the perpendicular positioning of the embroidered device when court mounted. These ribbons were intended to be pleated at either side of the embroidery, cut at the bottom & draped around the back of the medal.
The regulations: "Form & Mannner of wearing the SS Service=Award, Article 3, (8)", state "With the bestowal of the SS=Service Award, a higher grade supercedes a lower grade", so I would not expect to see an 8 year beside it.
Note the ribbon bar shown below & the mounted ribbon on the 12 year award (these are 5 single mounted medals laid together to give the appearance of a mounted group)...

Great one learns something new every day.

                        Thanks for the pics

I always figured they were worn the same way as the other long service awards.

I don't think the Ostmedaille has been re-painted, it's more likely a Morigi fake.

                          cheers
