SA Sports Badge numbers

Hi guys i had put this on the political organizations section but got no reply hope i may get one here faster?

i was just looking for some info on sa sports badges, i have see them with and without numbers. is the numbers the amount awarded and if so what do they go up to if known and why do some have no numbers on the back?
any info would be great

Hi

Yes they are issued in numerical sequence. So the number does correspond with a specific person and specific award documentation and the order in which manufactured. I think that the reason why some are numbered and some are not, is that the one that is numbered is the original piece issued to the recipient and one that is not is either a second version also given to person at the time of award, kind of like a Ausgabe b seen with HJ Achievement Badge or it is a privately purchased piece.
