Spanische Medaille – Medalla de la Campana

    Hello People,

Did the Spanische Medaille – Medalla de la Campana was deliver only to German Forces? Or Spanish combatants also received it? Was it manufactured 1945 after?

    Regards,

    Schmidt

it was produced well after the war in spain, as far as im aware it was not awarded in ww2 to spaninsh or german forces as im pretty sure its only for the civil war!(could be wrong though!)

Spain awarded these to their own Nationalist forces and to those forces of other countries that contributed to their victory (Germany included). These were probably in continuous manufacture from 1939 through the late 1980s (who knows - they may still be making them!). From what I've heard, you can still buy these mint, boxed medals in Spain for about 10 Euro each, although often described by dealers as "scarce" and selling for 90-150 Euro (and higher).

      Here's a another thread on these: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...hlight=spanish

One other detail to look for: the ribbon with the black edges was for combatants, while the ribbon with the green edges was for non-combatants.
