Opinions on German-Italian campaign medal wanted (Afrika medal)

Hi friends, I was hoping you could help me out on this medal.
I'm not too worried about the medal itself but I don't know about the ribbon.
It looks very "fresh" compared to what I've seen before.

What do you guys think about the medal and the ribbon?

    Hi

The medal looks fine but I think that the ribbon is either a reproduction or a time period ribbon recently cut from an existing roll. Why don't you use a black light on it? That should let you know.

I agree the ribbon is repoduction, the edging of the ribbon gives this away as not being original, however the medal itself, which is the most important part is good and 100% original

Seller claims the ribbon does not glow in UV-light.
But that does not give any 100% guarantee, does it ?

The ribbon is certainly not original to the medal, which had sewn ribbons with a small safety pin attachment. It also does not look like Italian made ribbon. So even if it is original German made ribbon, the piece should be de-valued from a complete original Italian issue medal...Tom

              I agree too!!!

Ribbon isn't original. I saw some these new ribbons in Afrika Medal lately...

                Hi

                Hi Mr Smith,

I would like to say that it is not necessarily a reproduction and this is probably the reason it does not glow under black light. It could be an original TR ribbon cut from an existing roll but as TGN stated it defiantly takes away from the value of the medal. I've attached a picture of an original for you to compare. This one has the Italian made ribbon. It is significantly thinner then the German made ones.

I think I have to let this one go, I want a 100% original, and I understand from what you guys says that it's not.

Monfort, from your photos, it looks like a cast reproduction

                        Hi Scott

                        Thank you

I was thinking the same due to the presence of the "small bulbs / balls" .

                          Hi

                          Hi monfort,

Do you think it's possible to get some better pictures. From these ones I would also say bad but I wouldn't write it off yet.

I believe monforts is an original zinc based on those pics. It would be nice for better ones though.

I beg to differ. Many originals don't have the pin anymore or ever did.
