Opinions really appreciated on this Luftschutz medal

I just received this medal which I bought from Ebay, I don't usually buy medals from Ebay but thought I would take a chance as I have bought lots of small items from the seller before plus I have wanted one for a while. The thing that concerns me is some residue that is present around the circle that encompasses the script and swastika. It appears several times on the obverse and the reverse.

You can see it on this pic aswell, does this indicate that the medal is a cast repro, I would really value your opinions on this.

The ribbon looks okay, the pin is not springy it just flops open when released do other example share this attribute?

You can compare your medal with mine.
I know for sure that mine is 100% original.
But I don't know enough of it to determine if yours is original.

I've seen other original examples with 'blobs' in the same area below the leaves. I think it's acceptable for a pre-45 piece.

Thanks guys. Has anyone else seen original Luftschutz medals with this same anomaly? There must be a few Luftshutz collectors out there!

Same on mine, 2 areas on the front as yours, 1 on the reverse side, approx. 9.00 O'clock. The pin is as you describe it also.

Terry, very interesting, mine also has the same glitch at 9 O'clock on the reverse. What does this mean? Were they were struck on the same pre-1945 die that possessed this fault or is there cause for concern? Does anyone else have one of these type? And also is the non springy pin standard for these medals?

The pin. Ignore the yellow metal rod on the top, this is part of the device I use to hang my medals in the frame.

I still think it looks fine--is this the light version vs. the heavy version? I've seen the blobs on the light version but not on the heavy version, if memory serves.

I've seen this type of blobing on these medals before, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with yours.

Also the pin set up & the way it's stitched on looks period as well.
                          Regards,

Thanks Erich and Chris, I am starting to feel better about it. It is indeed the lighter version and yes the ribbon and pin attachment on mine looks like the real deal.

                              Heya guys,

could I have your opinion on this Luftschutz medal? Is $50 a lot to pay for it?

Much appreciated. I have a good feeling about it all.
